Early this morning, the Port of San Diego imploded the South Bay Power Plant, an eyesore looming over the harbor for more than 50 years. I meant to ride my bike down there to witness the event, but the bed sheets were too heavy to lift at my 5:30 a.m. wake-up time. Yeah, I’m going with that. Anyway, I arrived on the scene shortly after the event, and snapped a few shots of the remaining rubble heap.
As the dust and smoke cleared, I noticed something odd on top of the pile (see middle photo). Looked like a cluster of ... people brandishing weapons or something. Gun rights advocates, maybe? Radical environmentalists?
OMG, turns out it was those pesky cast members from that Broadway musical Les Miserables. We can’t seem to get rid of those lunatics.
Pretty strange, huh?
